Festival of Lights! Time for Hanukkah ✡

Happy almost Hanukkah! This year I wanted to make our home especially bright and cheerful. Hanukkah is a special holiday we celebrate to remember the struggle and challenges the Jewish people faced during the Maccabean Revolt, and how they came out stronger with their love and faith in G-d ♥ The miracle of Hanukkah is a reminder that no matter the difficulties we might come up against, there is light ahead of us!

I have acquired many of my decorations over the last few years; however, Target had wonderful options this year. A close friend of mine and myself also made the center piece for my table as a craft project!

I love checking the countdown to Hanukkah each morning while I make a cup of coffee ♥ It is fun idea for children too, they can count down the days to delicious foods and bright Hanukkah nights!

Traditionally for Hanukkah we make something with an oil each night to symbolize the oil that miraculously burned for eight nights. Latkes are one of my favorite dishes to make for Hanukkah, it is a scrumptious food that you can make with friends and family. We make traditional potato latkes, but you can make various kinds; such as sweet potato, zucchini, carrot, butternut squash, be creative!

Apple Butter for the Holidays

You can see the details for Kristin’s apple butter on her website http://yellowblissroad.com 🙂

Hi friends! It’s the time of year we all love celebrating and sharing with family and friends ♥ Finally the weather is cooling, the air smells crisp and we indulge in plenty of treats. This year I found the sweetest gift to give, Kristin’s recipe for apple butter on her website “Yellow Bliss Road” is delicious and cozy.

The recipe is easy to follow and only requires a few ingredients, most you may already have at home! The ingredients needed will be 10-12 Medium Apples, 1/2 cup of brown sugar, 3/4 cup granulated sugar (I used raw sugar), 1 & 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. I double the recipe and canned all of it except a small bowel. The equipment necessary is a crock pot or instapot (set to slow cook on normal) and a blender. Make sure you visit Kristin’s page to try out her amazing apple butter recipe! http://yellowblissroad.com

Decorated to Give Thanks

Today I want to share my Fall decorations for this year! Thanksgiving may look a little different this year, but we can still make our home cozy ♥ In November I began decorating for Fall, after being inside for months I thought it was time to have a change in scenery. Yes, I had decorations from last year, but I decided to add to our Fall collection for a fresh feel in our home!

Happy Harvest sign and Initial Pumpkin from Kirkland’s

The front porch is Oreo’s (our fur baby) favorite and he wants me to let you know “It’s Fall Y’all”! I purchased all my outdoor pumpkins, the “Welcome Autumn” Truck sign, Harvest Sign (which also says “Welcome” in grey and white on the back) and the medium & small hay bails from Hobby Lobby. The outdoor “It’s Fall Y’all” mat is from Target. The Disney wreathe was made by my niece and I this year for a craft day ♥, we found all the materials from Michael’s.

I would like to make a note, in the above photos the truck appears to be a faded color compared to the first, this is because I forgot to spray it with a sun protectant. I suggest spraying any outdoor signs and painted decor with a sun protectant to avoid color fading!

For our coffee station this year, I reused my medium plastic pumpkins (pictured on the lower section of my coffee station) and small candles “Let’s Cuddle” & “Home Sweet Home” (pictured on top of coffee station) from Target, the small porcelain pumpkins, plaid runner and “Gather Together With Grateful Hearts” sign I found at Target this year. The Truck mug was a gift from my mom, she purchased it from Hobby Lobby ♥

In the kitchen/dining area I used the gold candle holders I found at Target last year and the placemats were purchased from Pier1 Imports. I considered making the garland for our dining table, but I happened upon this gorgeous Harvest garland! I was also pleasantly surprised when it arrived and I realized there were small lights weaved into it ♥ At this moment the garland is still available online from Target (link at bottom). The table runner is from Big Lots.

I chose to invest in sham pillows this fall! You can purchase seasonal cases to put on them, plus it is more cost efficient and provides options (links at bottom). The pillows and cases are from Amazon and both are in stock. The small block wood signs are from Walmart.

Have a Safe and Happy Thanksgiving! ♥

Meet Ochesa!

Hi! I’ts so exciting to introduce myself to you ♥ I want to start by thanking you for getting to know me, I look forward to acquainting myself with each of you and sharing our experiences. Starting this blog I hope to share my knowledge and insight on fashion and beauty, while I share my journey through life and health.

I am 24 going on 25 this coming January! My Alma mater is The University of Florida, and my Bachelor’s is in Psychology. My husband (Sean) and I have a fur baby named Oreo, who is a black domestic short-hair. A few of my favorite hobbies include Disney, reading, makeup, gaming, and cooking. Makeup and fashion have always been a passion of mine. I remember how much enjoyment I got from back to school shopping with my mom; spending the whole day looking for clothes, shoes (my personal favorite), and accessories. Taking photos of the outfits I put together before school was a routine for my mom and I (not thinking anything would ever come of it), but I guess this was an indication of my future endeavors.

I recently asked my husband what he thought my “secret talent” was, and his response was writing. In college we would research and write many papers and I remember loving each one, being able to pour my thoughts onto the page. Recalling this I knew Sean was absolutely correct! I often joke “I guess I missed my calling as a writer!”, but it is never too late to pursue a goal or dream. Blogging is the perfect blend for me, I am able to combine my love for fashion & beauty with my passion of writing.

Starting ForeverForay I want it to be an expressive outlet, a place to share my style and personality, and inspire other women to express themselves. I have always been on the shy side, but as the years pass I continue to open up. My husband encourages me to be more vocal and unafraid of judgement.

The main goal I set for myself is to help others, that dream started with Doctor, then PA (Physicians Assistant), and finally a Psychologist. The path to this decision was not easy nor without challenges, and I will continue to face challenges, I may change my goals yet again, and this is acceptable. We are told young that we need to have our future mapped out by the end of high school, but this is a strange notion, seeing that we continue to change and grow our whole life. So, why do our dreams and goals from 18 need to remain the same a constant our whole life? They don’t, we are entitled to change our goal, add to it, or grow beyond it. In undergraduate school my experiences were exciting, gratifying, different, while also painful, disheartening, and sometimes upsetting. Nearing the end of my undergraduate time at UF I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease, after seeing countless doctors over the years. While this left me in severe pain and I struggled to keep up with my many demanding classes, I never gave up. Once given my diagnosis I was faced with many realities that I battled with. Once I started my infusions and medications, I took time to recover mentally and psychically. During this time, I really considered what I wanted to do in life and I found that my goals and dreams I had once set were now shifted. Over the past two years I often reflected and wondered why I had to go through these experiences and trials? Now, I realize they were to make me stronger, braver, to push me harder towards my future. We do not have to choose between our dreams, it IS an option to have both or all! I want to help those in need, be an outlet for those struggling mentally and physically, and simply be a light to brighten your day.

So, now that you know me a little better and my journey so far, I cannot wait to share fun trends, nifty tips & tricks, life experiences and much more with you!

Love your friend, Chesa ♥
